One mistake that we make when dealing with global issues is trying to find 'a good way to resolve it'. Whatever way it is, if it fails, it turns out to be that of suicide, like the plan mentioned in the book. So we should promote every interested party to come with their own individual ways to solve it. There should be several parallel attempts made around the globe and soon some of them will bear results. The most important thing is to put the word across very strongly, so that people will be motivated enough to look for solutions. One or more or some combinations of them may carry us across.
